11th Hour Depth Charting: Penn State at Minnesota

Gerald Hodges is expected to play this week,
but to what degree is still up in the air.

It's a tough one this week, with so many players supposedly returning from injury. Some of them, like Michael Mauti, Bani Gbadyu, and Jordan Hill, are locks to either start or play significant time on Saturday. But then there are guys like Gerald Hodges, Jack Crawford, and even Brandon Beachum (actually listed as "possible" on the PSU injury report), who I'm not really sure are going to go this week, unless they are desperately needed.

The latest depth chart (from what we can tell) for this week's game, with some complementary notes...

-Defensive tackle Jordan Hill could start at defensive end. While it seems odd, it may not be. With Minnesota committing to the run this year, a run stopper like Hill may be a good move. But we'll see.
-Sean Stanley should come back this week, but he definitely won't start, after being in the doghouse for three weeks. But look for Kevion Latham to get plenty of snaps early in the game.
-Chaz Powell is officially back on defense. Not sure if he broke into the second team yet, but we'll see this week.
-Drew Astorino moved to Nick Sukay's old free safety spot, likely putting Andrew Dailey in at hero-back this week. If Dailey doesn't start, it will probably be Malcolm Willis.
-Brandon Ware was reportedly (I forget where, go Google it if you care so much) back in action this week, and is expected to play this week. Think about that for a second. Brandon Ware, Mr. Dog House, is back in the lineup. The depth issue up front must be really, really bad.
-Don't freak that Gerald Hodges is at the third-team linebacker spot. It all depends on his injury status. He could very well start, but I doubt it. And with Khairi Fortt playing well against Illinois, he's at least earned the nod at second-team Sam for now.
