"The Blue & White Society and Penn State Intercollegiate Athletics are teaming up to host the traditional "Rally in the Valley" football pep rally at approximately 7:45 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 29, in Rec Hall. The Nittany Lion faithful will be pumped up and primed to get ready for the widely anticipated Beaver Stadium primetime clash between Penn State and Michigan on Saturday."Can't say this wasn't expected. The night before the Michigan State game, the Blue Band plays its annual Bandorama concert, and you can't have a Rally in the Valley without the band.
But what about the Northwestern game? Well, look at the schedule. Michigan represents what could be the turning point in the season. Even if Penn State doesn't magically run off the final six games into the win column, beating Michigan is paramount to any hopes for a bowl bid, especially one not sponsored by a second-tier Pizza restaurant chain.
So here it is. Get loud. Get ready. No matter what happens, it's going to be one crazy weekend in Happy Valley.

I think we can go bowling regardless of whether we beat Michigan. Northwestern looks vulnerable and tends to play at the level of their opponents (see: Vanderbilt, Central Michigan, Minnesota, and a crippled Purdue team) and no way do we lose to a slumping Indiana team at what will be "Beaver Stadium South."
ReplyDeleteTrue. Penn State will probably get to a bowl game no matter what. But a win over Michigan would make the difference between 7-5 or 6-6. Plus, jNW is never a gimme.
