Indiana Fires Bill Lynch

Big Ten coaching carousel.

This is a bit surprising, considering the Hoosiers just beat their main rival Purdue (which I totally called) in West Lafayette for the first time since 1996. But Bill Lynch is out at Indiana after four seasons, including a bowl berth in 2007.

It was a rocky road for Lynch, as it has been for nearly every Indiana head coach since Prohibition. He left with a 19-30 record. However, with very high expectations going into this season, the 5-7 (1-7 Big Ten) record wasn't good enough for the administration. Though one must keep in mind that this was probably the toughest Big Ten conference since the late 1990s, and it would have been difficult for most lower-tier programs to reach .500 this year playing in this conference.

Good luck to Lynch, and even bigger luck to the next guy who comes into Bloomington, because he'll sure as hell need it.
