Michael "The Ragin' Cajun" Mauti had the best game of his career, leading a defense that played like a unit stacked with All-Americans. If Mauti keeps up with these kinds of performances, we'll have another All-America linebacker before we know it. Via the Big Ten:
CO-DEFENSE:
Michael Mauti, Penn State
SO, LB, Mandeville, La./Mandeville
Mauti posted a career-high 11 tackles with a career-best three tackles for loss, including a five-yard sack, to help Penn State rally from a 21-point deficit against Northwestern. After the Wildcats built a 21-0 lead in the second quarter, the sophomore linebacker helped hold NU to only 130 yards on 31 second-half plays, including 32 yards on 10 plays in the third quarter. The Nittany Lions outscored the Wildcats, 28-0, in the second half on the way to the 35-21 victory. Mauti earns the first weekly award of his career.
LAST PSU DEFENSIVE POW: LB Navorro Bowman on Nov. 22, 2009.
You see that? It looks like a linebacker. But oh, not just any linebacker. That there is a linebacker from "Linebacker U." Congrats, Mike!
