Penn State basketball broke a two game losing as they took down Indiana but now the Nittany Lions are staying on the road and heading to Ann Arbor. It is hard to stay positive when talking about Penn State basketball but let's be optimistic.
A win against the Hoosiers is never a win to put on one team's resume but more importantly was that the Lions shot 53% against Indiana. Even in Penn State's non-conference wins, players were taking plenty of ill-advised shots ut let's see if Battle and the rest of the gang can continue playing smart basketball throughout the Big Ten schedule.
When it comes to Michigan (10-3) there is no serious offensive threat but the Wolverines' leading scorer Guard Darius Morris (15.3 PPG) is 6'4" which could cause a mismatch against the guards of Penn State. Look for Cammeron Woodyard to come off the bench to slow down Morris.
Jeff Brooks should have another solid game. The Wolverines only effective big man is Jordan Morgan but he does not even average 10 PPG.
There is a side story everyone should watch today and that is Andrew Jones. Jones has had a less than stellar season but this Michigan squad is a perfect game for Jones to turn his season around. Why is this game so important? All of the big men for Michigan are Freshman. Morgan and Smotrycz are the only two that get serious playing time but it still stands, they are both freshman. Jones (and Brooks) need to show their seniority and experience and dominate the paint today.
