If you ever wondered to yourself what a Penn State highlight package would look like done in an NFL Films-style format, wonder no more. We present to you the 1969 Homecoming beat-down of West Virginia.
As you can see, there are a few oddities in this video that you likely didn't realized existed. For one, Beaver Stadium used to have a track. We're not sure when exactly they removed the track, but it's pretty surreal to see it surrounding the sidelines, it was probably a commonplace thing back in the 60's for college football stadiums to double up as track and field stadiums. Also note the depiction of people from West Virginia as Davey Crockett coonskin-wearing, moonshine-drinking, musket-shooting rednecks. It is a fairly un-PC but accurate depiction of the state of West Virginia at the time. Boy, they sure have come a long way in the past 41 years...

ReplyDeleteIt looks like WVU came into the game expecting a 3-Mississippi rush rule or something
ReplyDeleteI like the Beaver Stadium attendance record of 52,000.
