PSU Division I Hockey Beginning in 2012

It took years to finalize, but Penn State fans are finally getting what they wanted, a Division I hockey team.

Starting in the 2012-2013 season, both women's and men's hockey will be competing at the Division I level, with a new arena set to begin construction in the coming months.

Where did this money come from? An 88 million dollar donation from Penn State alumnus Terry Pegula. Pegula is the founder and former CEO and president of East Resources Inc.

The donation comes as the largest private donation in the history of the Pennsylvania State University.
