Always for the Glory: NFL Update Week 8

Your week eight Penn State in the NFL update. Another former Nittany Lions was added to the ranks last week, as Jeremy Kapinos was picked up and started for the Colts.

NFC North

Chicago Bears - BYE

This week: Chicago travels to Buffalo, 1 p.m. Sunday on FOX.

Green Bay Packers - W, 9-0 vs New York Jets

This week: Green Bay hosts Dallas, 8:20 p.m. Sunday on NBC.

Andrew Quarless (2006-09), TE
Quarless was targeted twice by quarterback Aaron Rodgers but did not have a catch in Green Bay's shutout win over the New York Jets.

Minnesota Vikings - L, 28-18 vs New England

This week: Minnesota hosts Arizona, 1 p.m. Sunday on FOX.

Jimmy Kennedy (1999-02), DT
Kennedy was inactive for the Vikings' loss to the Patriots.

Detroit Lions - W, 37-25 vs Washington

This week: Detroit hosts the New York Jets, 1 p.m. Sunday on CBS.

Derrick Williams (2005-08), WR
Williams was inactive for Detroit's home win over Washington.

Bryant Johnson (1999-02), WR
Johnson had one reception for nine yards in Detroit's second win of the season.

A.Q. Shipley (2005-08), C
Shipley joined the Eagles in the 2010 offseason and spent the entire training camp and preseason with the team before signing to the practice squad.

Dallas Cowboys - L, 35-17 vs Jacksonville

This week: Dallas hosts Green Bay, 8:20 p.m. Sunday on NBC.

Sean Lee (2005-07, 2009), LB
Lee played versus Jacksonville but did record a tackle.

NFC South

Carolina Panthers - L, 20-10 vs St. Louis

This week: The Panthers host New Orleans, 1 p.m. Sunday on FOX.

Dan Connor (2004-07), LB
Connor started at middle linebacker, registering seven total tackles, with one for a loss.

Ed Johnson (2003-04, 2006), DT
Johnson played as a reserve defensive tackle, making three stops (2 solos).

Tampa Bay Buccaneers - W, 38-35 vs Arizona

This week: The Buccaneers host Atlanta, 1 p.m. Sunday on FOX.

John Gilmore (1999-01), TE
Gilmore started at tight end, catching one pass for 11 yards.

Kerry Collins (1992-94), QB
The longest active NFL tenured Nittany Lion, in his 16th professional season, Collins replaced an injured Vince Young, completing 8-of-15 passes for 52 yards.

Tim Shaw (2002, 2004-06), LB
Shaw saw playing time on defense, recording three tackles (two solos), including one for a loss.

Indianapolis Colts - W, 30-17 vs Houston

This week: The Colts travel to Philadelphia, 4:15 p.m. on CBS.

Jeremy Kapinos (2003-2006), P
After signing with the Indianapolis on Oct. 25, Kapinos punted four times for an average of 44.8 yards in his Colts debut, placing two inside the 20-yard line with a long of 55 yards.

AFC West

Kansas City Chiefs - W, 13-10(OT) vs Buffalo

This week: Kansas City travels to Oakland, 4:15 p.m. Sunday on CBS.

Tamba Hali (2002-05), DE
Hali continued his standout season in Kansas City's win over Buffalo, recording four tackles, 1.5 sacks for a loss of 16.5 yards, three quarterback hits, and one pass defensed.

Cleveland Browns - BYE

Jordan Norwood (2005-08), WR
Norwood is a member of the Cleveland Browns' practice squad.

AFC East

New England Patriots - W, 28-18 vs Minnesota

Rich Ohrnberger (2006-08), OG
Ohrnberger was on the inactive list versus the Vikings.

Buffalo Bills - L, 13-10(OT) vs Kansas City

This week: The Bills host Chicago, 1 p.m. Sunday on FOX.

Aaron Maybin (2007-08), DE
Maybin was inactive for Buffalo's week eight loss to Kansas City.

Paul Posluszny (2003-06), LB
Starting at inside linebacker, Posluszny recorded a season-high 18 tackles (11 solos), a half sack for a loss of 1.5 yards, one quarterback hit, and one pass defensed.

Bryan Scott (1999-02), S
Scott made one solo tackle on defense and one special teams tackle in the Bills' loss to the Chiefs.

Miami Dolphins - W, 22-14 vs Cincinnati

Jared Odrick (2006-09), DT
Odrick was placed on injured reserve on Oct. 22 as a result of a left foot injury he suffered at the end of practice two days earlier. It was not at all related to the right leg injury that had kept the 2010 first-round pick out of the lineup since week one.

Mickey Shuler (2007-09), TE
Shuler was inactive for Miami's game versus Cincinnati.

Cameron Wake (2000, 2002-04), LB
Wake recorded three tackles and two quarterback hits in the Dolphins' fourth road win of the season.
